I am especially happy that the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation, one of our agencies under the umbrella of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, or HUDCC, is the originator of this landmark transaction.
Let me congratulate NHMFC, headed by Dr. Felix Bustos, for coming up with an innovative and alternative investment vehicle for many Filipinos. Congratulations, too, to the other key players in the transaction: Land Bank as the arranger and underwriter, Landbank Trust as the special-purpose trust bank, the Development Bank of the Philippines Trust as the trustee, the Home Guaranty Corporation as the guarantor, and the Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corporation, where the Bahay Bonds will be listed in the secondary market.
The Bahay Bonds are designed especially for you, our retail investors and cooperatives. As mentioned earlier, Bahay Bonds are a safe, affordable and high-yielding investment security especially designed for the small investors. With a minimum investment of P5,000, you earn a tax-free interest rate of 4.8 percent annually over a five-year period. At mayroon pang pa-raffle na tatlong bahay at lupa.
You also need not worry about losing your investment because the Bahay Bonds have been designed with several layers of protection. There is also an available secondary market where you can sell your bonds.
