Asset Reform Group Leads Disscussions on Land Proclamations

HUDCC’s Deputy Secretary General Leira S. Buan joined a series of Pre-Proclamation Committee meetings together with Atty. Alvin Claridades, Director of HUDCC’s Asset Reform Group last August 3 and 4 held in Davao City. These meetings focused on the processing of request for housing proclamations for informal settlers’ families occupying government lands. Key attendees during the aforesaid events included representatives from the Pre-Proclamation Committee such as HUDCC, DENR, DPWH, DOH, PCUP, NHA, and from the land owners/administrators.

Members of the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies (ARENA) attended the meeting last August 3, 2017 (including NEDA, DENR, DOH, DPWH, CSC, COA, NBI, OCD, DSWD, DILG and DAP) with some officials from City Government of Davao, PCUP, and HOA to thresh out issues and concerns on Proclamation No. 2331 which is expected to benefit 200-250 ISFs. The meeting was held at the NEDA Conference Room (NEDA Regional Director Maria Lourdes Lim is the president of ARENA).
1,100 Transitional Shelters for Marawi Evacuees to Start Construction on 1st Week of September – Sec. Del Rosario

According to Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, the first 1,100 transitional housing units will start construction on or before September 8 to immediately decongest the packed evacuation centers where more than 5,000 families of evacuees are currently seeking shelter.
Last Wednesday, August 2, Housing Secretary Eduardo del Rosario flew to Marawi City with the heads of the key shelter agencies (KSAs) to conduct a site inspection of the proposed 11-hectare land at Barangay Sagonsongan where the first 1,100 transitional houses will be built.
The initial 1,100 target of housing units is intended to immediately decongest the packed evacuation centers where more than 5,000 families are currently seeking shelter. The figure will be adjusted after the completion of the post-conflict needs assessment when the figures on the transitional housing and permanent housing needs, including the number of IDPs returning to their respective residence, are then established.

Following his official oath of office on Monday, the new HUDCC Chairperson, retired General Eduardo D. Del Rosario, began his official duties at sprint speed, directing the officials of shelter agencies to work closely as “one team” in addressing the country’s housing needs.
“With HUDCC at the helm, I look forward to working together with the different shelter agencies as one team moving forward to bring effective solutions to homelessness and housing needs to the people we have committed to serve,” the Chairman said.
