Vice President and HUDCC Chairperson Jejomar C. Binay will award today, 24 August 2012, 250 Transfer Certificate of Titles (TCTs) to qualified beneficiaries of the National Government Center (NGC) – West Side Housing Project located at Quezon City.
This housing project which is now under the administration and supervision of the National Housing Authority General Manager Atty. Chito M. Cruz, was created by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 137 issued by then President Corazon C. Aquino in 1987. Implementation of the project started in 1994 whereby census-survey of potential beneficiaries was conducted.
In time for the 25th Anniversary of NGCHP-West is the eight batch of awarding of land titles, where a total of 923 titles have already been released to date. Out of the 20,162 generated lots in the NGCHP-West Side Housing Project, a total of 12,957 lots (65%) are with subdivision plans approved by DENR-NCR and 8,131 lots were already disposed of which 2,083 beneficiaries have fully paid their lots.
VP Binay will also lead the ground breaking activity for the construction of Phase 1 of Medium Rise Building (MRB) IV at Republic Avenue, Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City. The two (2) hectare property where the MRB will rise will house residents living in areas considered as danger zones in Quezon City and NGC. A total of 480 units will compose the first eight (8) MRBs. For its Phase 2 and 3 constructions in 2013, 8 more MRBs are expected to rise with a grand total of 960 units. The medium rise buildings will be part of the Php 10 Billion Budget allocated by President Benigno S. Aquino III for its 5-year housing program to house informal settler families in the National Capital Region.
The awarding and the groundbreaking ceremony will be graced by Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Chairperson Jejomar C. Binay, HUDCC Secretary General Cecilia Alba, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Quezon City 2nd District Congressman Winston Castelo and NHA General Manager Chito M. Cruz and other local officials, homeowners and leaders of the project.
