Pag-IBIG offers scholarship to members and dependents
Vice President Noli De Castro, concurrent Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) and the Board of Trustees of the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund), today informed that the Pag-IBIG Fund is now accepting applications to its Iskolar ng Pag-IBIG Program.
“The Iskolar ng Pag-IBIG Program is part of the Pag-IBIG Fund’s corporate social responsibility for members from indigent families, offering educational scholarships to members and their minor legal dependents who are high school graduates to give them opportunities for education and self-improvement,” De Castro said.
De Castro added that 150 scholarships will be chosen by lottery from among qualified applicants. Fifty will be allotted for degree courses and 100 for vocational courses. Degree course grantees will be given up to P60,000 per year while vocational course grantees will be given up to P30,000 per course.
According to Jaime A. Fabiaña, Pag-IBIG Chief Executive Officer, “The Iskolar ng Pag-IBIG Program aims to increase the benefits of Fund members.”
Applicants must have an annual family gross income of not more than P250,000. The degree course applicants must have an average of at least 85% in 4th year high school, a percentile rank of at least 86 in the National Career Assessment Examination, and must belong to the Top 20 in the graduating class.
The following documents must be submitted: accomplished Iskolar ng Pag-IBIG application form, certified true copy of high school grades, copy of the income tax return, birth certificate of the applicant, and certificate of good moral character. For the scholarship to be retained, the grantee should have an average grade of at least 85% per semester/term with no grade lower than 81% per subject and Pag-IBIG membership should be maintained except for causes due to retirement, total disability, or death.
Since the Program started last year, the Pag-IBIG Fund has offered 50 scholarships for degree courses and 100 for vocational courses.
