VP BINAY DISTRIBUTES CMP TITLES IN DAVAO CITY.    Vice President and concurrent Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council Jejomar Binay  led the distribution of Transfer Certificate of Titles (TCTs) to forty-nine (49) family-beneficiaries of twelve (12) community associations in Davao City after full payment of their respective loans under the Community Mortgage Program (CMP).  The CMP, administered by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), is an innovative mortgage financing system where residents of blighted or depressed areas may acquire a privately-owned tract of land through the concept of community ownership.  Also present during the occasion are (from left) Davao City Council Arnulfo Cabling, SHFC President Fermin Arzaga and the CMP beneficiaries.

Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordination Council (HUDCC) chair Jejomar C. Binay has emphasized the importance of a strong partnership between business and government, saying it was vital to ensuring economic development.

Citing “numerous complaints” from religious groups, non-government organizations (NGOs) and the relocated settlers themsleves,  Vice President Jejomar C. Binay has directed the National Housing Authority (NHA) to conduct a thorough review of the national government’s resettlement program and reminded the agency that resettlement activities should be guided by the "humane treatment" of settlers.

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay today directed the Home Development Mutual (PAG-IBIG) Fund and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration to suspend the implementation of the order mandating the six-month advance contribution of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to the housing fund.
